Paul Handal is a partner at Bufete Gutiérrez Falla & Asociados since 2010. He has extensive experience in all areas of bank, insurance and reinsurance regulation and has advised several national and international bank and insurance institutions over the past years.


He is dedicated on providing to his clients effective and cost-conscious counseling. On the strength of his in-depth knowledge of Honduran Law, his commitment to excellence and responsiveness and of his careful focus on detail, helps his clients achieve their goals and make the best decisions in pursuing them.


Paul counsels clients on the implications of Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) for their Honduran operations. Paul Handal´s practice also encompasses complex commercial litigation. He has successfully participated in the representation of various companies in arbitration procedures involving breach of contracts, supply and distribution agreements.


He additionally focuses on antitrust issues raised by mergers and acquisitions and has successfully conducted the defense of a company on a sanction procedure before the Honduran Commission for the Promotion and Defense of Competition “Comisión Para la Defensa y Promoción de la Competencia” (the Honduran entity responsible for the enforcement of competition policy) in case related to tying- agreements.


Paul Handal also advises clients on a full range of corporate and commercial matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Paul has written several legal articles concerning commercial law issues and insurance related matters.
